F1 Fantasy Limitless Chip: When to Play It
Play the F1 Fantasy Limitless chip at Qatar (R22) or Abu Dhabi (R23), whichever your other chips leave free, and not at São Paulo if rain is forecast. It removes the cost cap for one weekend, so it pays most where the result follows car pace and the drivers you could not otherwise afford finish at the front. Qatar usually runs dry and Abu Dhabi is predictable.

Key picks
| Item | The call |
|---|---|
| Play it at | Qatar (R22) or Abu Dhabi (R23), whichever your other chips leave free |
| Avoid | São Paulo (R20) if rain is forecast |
| Last two chips are Limitless and Final Fix | Limitless at Qatar, Final Fix kept for Abu Dhabi |
| That week | Your team reverts after the race, so no transfers on one-race picks |
| Remember | Any chip unused after Abu Dhabi is lost |
Limitless lends you a team with no budget limit for a single race, then gives your old one back. The value is in picking the weekend where an expensive lineup is most likely to score like one.
What the Limitless chip does
You set Limitless before the lock, which comes when qualifying starts, like your transfers and the Boost.
- Unlimited free transfers for one race weekend. Make as many changes as you like that week without the 10 point cost of an extra transfer.
- No cost cap. Your budget does not limit the team you pick for that weekend.
- The 2X Boost still applies. The Boost is not a chip, so you set it on one driver as usual.
- After the race, your team reverts to the lineup you had at the previous race, and normal transfer rules resume at the following race.
Limitless unlocks after your first race weekend, and like every chip it can be played once a season, with only one chip per race, as the official chip rules set out.
Your team goes back after a Limitless week
Every change you make in a Limitless week is undone after the race. Your team returns to its previous lineup, and the next race starts from there.
So do not spend transfers that week on drivers you only want for one race. Limitless already puts them in your team for that weekend at no cost. If there is a driver you want for the rest of the season, bring them in with a normal transfer at the following race, where your 2 free transfers apply again.
When to use Limitless in the 2026 run-in
Four rounds are left, São Paulo (R20), Las Vegas (R21), Qatar (R22) and Abu Dhabi (R23), and none is a Sprint weekend.
- Qatar (R22). It usually runs dry, so the fastest cars tend to finish where their pace puts them. In the run-in guide it shares the round with the 3X Boost and the Wildcard: if you hold two of those three, play the stronger at Qatar and the other at Abu Dhabi.
- Abu Dhabi (R23), if another chip has Qatar. The race is predictable and clean, which suits a lineup built on pace.
- Not São Paulo if rain is forecast. Interlagos has a record of weather swings. The 2024 race was wet, qualifying was stopped five times and Verstappen won from 17th on the grid, which is the kind of weekend that undoes a team bought for pace.
The chip is worth less now than it was early in the season. Price changes have narrowed the gap between a Limitless lineup and a well-built normal one: the gap over the best 100M team averaged 118.5 points in rounds 1 to 4 against 88.5 in rounds 5 to 18, according to our 2026 chip data. That is why the top 500 played it mostly in Japan at Round 3 (54.8%) and China at Round 2 (25.6%), and why only 0.2% still held it at round 19.
If Limitless and Final Fix are your last two chips
Play Limitless at Qatar (R22) and keep Final Fix for Abu Dhabi (R23).
Final Fix is the one chip you play after qualifying, so it is the one to hold longest. If a withdrawal, a post-qualifying grid penalty or a pit-lane start hits your team at São Paulo or Las Vegas first, play Final Fix that weekend, and Limitless can then go at Qatar or Abu Dhabi.
Only one chip counts per race, so Final Fix cannot rescue the weekend you play Limitless. If something goes wrong after qualifying at Qatar, keep Final Fix for Abu Dhabi.
Limitless vs the Wildcard
| Item | Limitless | Wildcard |
|---|---|---|
| Transfers | Unlimited free transfers for one weekend | Unlimited free transfers until the lock |
| Cost cap | Removed | Still applies |
| After the race | Your team reverts to your previous lineup | The new team stays |
| Best for | One weekend with a lineup you could not normally afford | A team that needs three or more changes |
Limitless borrows a better team for one race and gives it back. The Wildcard is the chip for rebuilding.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Limitless chip in F1 Fantasy?
A chip that gives you unlimited free transfers and removes the cost cap for one race weekend. After the race your team reverts to your previous lineup, and normal transfer rules resume at the next race.
When should you play Limitless in the 2026 run-in?
At Qatar or Abu Dhabi, whichever your other chips leave free. Both are weekends where the result usually follows car pace. Avoid São Paulo if rain is forecast, because a wet race can scramble the order.
What happens to your team after Limitless?
It goes back to the lineup you had at the previous race, so every change you made that week is undone. Normal transfer rules resume at the next race, so a driver you want to keep needs a normal transfer then.
Does Limitless remove the budget cap?
Yes, for one race weekend only. The Wildcard is the chip that keeps the cost cap, and its changes stay after the race.
Can you use Limitless with another chip?
No. Only one chip can be played per race, so the weekend you play Limitless cannot also take Final Fix, the 3X Boost or any other chip. The standard 2X Boost is not a chip, so you still set it on one driver before the lock.
Should you save Limitless or Final Fix for Abu Dhabi?
If they are your last two chips, play Limitless at Qatar and keep Final Fix for Abu Dhabi. If a post-qualifying problem hits your team at São Paulo or Las Vegas first, play Final Fix there and Limitless can go at Qatar or Abu Dhabi. Any chip unused after Abu Dhabi is lost.
