F1 Fantasy 3X Boost Chip: What It Does and When to Use It

The 3X Boost is the biggest multiplier in the game, and it only pays when your driver has a strong weekend.

Based on the official F1 Fantasy game rules for 2026, the 2026 calendar and Mexico City grid slot stats.

The F1 Fantasy 3X Boost chip triples one driver's score for the whole weekend. Your 2X Boost still runs on a different driver.

What the 3X Boost chip does

It triples everything your driver scores: qualifying, the Sprint on a Sprint weekend, and the Grand Prix. It is available from Race 1, once a season. The 2X Boost is the normal weekly Boost, doubling one driver's score every race. Only one chip counts per race.

Example: your top driver scores 30 and your second driver scores 20. A normal week, with the 2X Boost on the top driver, gives 60 + 20 = 80. With the 3X Boost on the top driver and the 2X Boost moved to the second driver, it gives 90 + 40 = 130.

The two cannot sit on the same driver, so before lock, move your 2X Boost if it sits on your 3X Boost pick, and reset it the next race.

When to use the 3X Boost in F1 Fantasy

Sprint weekends suit it best, because more scoring sessions give your driver a bigger total to multiply. Otherwise, pick a race where the result tends to follow car pace, and a premium driver in a fast car.

Teams lock at the start of qualifying, so you never know the grid. Play the 3X Boost on the premium driver you trust most if they finish final practice in the top three. If not, use your next-best driver or keep the chip. On a normal weekend final practice is the last session before lock, but a Sprint weekend has less running before lock, so check the lock time in the app.

When not to use it

Skip weekends with high weather or Safety Car risk, which is No Negative territory. Hold it when you have no driver you trust at that circuit, when your team needs transfers more than a multiplier, or at a race you have already given to another chip. Check the forecast before lock, and if rain is likely, keep the 3X Boost.

Where the 3X Boost fits in the rest of 2026

Singapore (R17) was the last Sprint weekend of 2026, so there is none to wait for. Five races remain, from Mexico City (R19) to Abu Dhabi.

If you still hold the 3X Boost, play it in Mexico City. Otherwise Limitless is the Mexico City chip. If you hold both, play the 3X Boost and move Limitless to Abu Dhabi. No Negative goes to São Paulo, and Final Fix stays in reserve. Qatar is the late fallback: high degradation and long straights let a dominant driver build a big score.

Mexico City shows why the check is race pace, not pole. From 2015 to 2024 the pole-sitter won only four of the nine Grands Prix there, and the other five were won from second or third (Lights Out grid slot stats).

Any chip unused after Abu Dhabi is lost. See the Mexico City preview and where each chip goes with six races left.

Frequently asked questions

Can the 3X Boost and the 2X Boost go on the same driver?

No. Move the 2X Boost to another driver before lock.

Does the 3X Boost include qualifying?

Yes. It triples the whole weekend score, qualifying included.

Can I play another chip in the same race as the 3X Boost?

No. Only one chip can be played per race. The 2X Boost still runs on another driver.

What happens if I do not use the 3X Boost by Abu Dhabi?

It is lost. Unused chips do not carry over to next season.

When should I play the 3X Boost with no Sprints left?

At Mexico City, on your most trusted premium driver if they finish final practice in the top three. Qatar is the fallback.
